Anthony Davis Returns To More Lakers Frustration
Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis played through the pain against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, but to no avail.
The 129-118 defeat left Anthony Davis rueing what ‘could have been’ as L.A fell further out of postseason contention.
The Spurs beat Portland on Sunday, meaning their lead for the No.10 seed increased to two games. With four games remaining, the Lakers need to gain three games on San Antonio to qualify for the play-in tournament.
Anthony Davis has missed 39 of the Lakers’ 78 regular season games so far due to injury. Sunday was just the second game he played since February because of a right midfoot injury.

“They said I can’t get any worse,” Davis said. “Once I hear that, if I can’t make it any worse, then it’s just going out and making sure the foot is comfortable enough to go out there and play.
“I think the biggest thing that I think about personally is what we could have been, had we stayed healthy all year.
“What could we have been. … Guys feel like, ‘OK, what could we have been if I was healthy all year, [LeBron James] was healthy, [Kendrick] Nunn was healthy.’ You think about those things. We put this team together and it looked good on paper, but we haven’t had a chance to reach that potential with guys in and out of the lineup.
“So the most frustrating part of this season is not being sure of what we could have been.”

The Lakers now face Phoenix on Tuesday, the Warriors on Thursday, Oklahoma on Friday and Denver on Sunday. Davis vowed to play through the pain in these games. However, it could prove too little, too late.
