April 30, 2014 Is NHL Game 7 Day
It is only the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and normally at this point we are well on our way into the second round, maybe with a game going into Game 7. Â However, it is clear that this year’s contending teams are a lot tougher than years past and we will see three Game 7 match ups tonight.
Here is a brief rundown of each playoff deciding game tonight:
Flyers @ Rangers
These two division rivals dragged each other into a Game 7 situation, well it was more on the Philadelphia Flyers end that were doing the dragging.
The Flyers found themselves in a must win situation last night and win they did, defeating the New York Rangers 5-2. The Flyers will carry some much needed momentum as they head to the Rangers’ ice to try and take the series and advance in the playoffs.
Bookmakers have been hesitant to release the odds for this one, so keep your eyes close to your favorite sportsbooks for the odds. This game starts at 7:05 p.m. ET and you can watch on NBCSN.
Wild @ Avalanche
If the Minnesota Wild beat the Colorado Avalanche they will become the first road team in the series to score a victory. Â More importantly, they will advance to the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoff.
According to NHL.Com 12 of the past 15 playoff showdowns between these two teams have been decided by one goal. That includes two of the games in this very series. In other words, this is likely to be a close one.
The Wild forced a Game 7 by beating Colorado 3-2 in overtime. The last time these two teams faced off in a Game 7 situation was 2003.
The point spread favors the Avalanche, likely because of their home-ice advantage. The game starts at 9:35 p.m. ET and you can watch on CNBC.
Kings @ Sharks
The big story coming out of this Game 7 games will go one of two ways.  Either the we will all be talking about the Los Angeles Kings amazing series comeback after being down 0-3 to take the series and advance, or we will be talking about how the San Jose Sharks won game seven after being up in the series 3-0 for the second time in four years. One thing is for sure, the Anaheim Ducks are eagerly awaiting their opponents.
The Sharks are the favorites to take this one according to the spread. This game starts at 10 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBCSN.
