Baker Mayfield & Mike Evans To Reuinite In Tampa Next Year
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have secured the services of quarterback Baker Mayfield and WR Mike Evans with new contracts.
Baker Mayfield, who was set to hit free agency, has agreed to a three-year, $100 million contract with the Bucs. Meanwhile Mike Evans, who has been with the team his entire career, signed a two-year extension.
Baker Mayfield was in danger of going from the 2018 No.1 pick to a journeyman quarterback. However, he produced a career year in 2023, as did Mike Evans.

Mayfield threw for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season. With him under center, Evans produced his best numbers since 2018 in receptions (79) and yards (1,255). He also led the league in touchdown receptions with 13.
Mike Evans (30), is understandably pleased as a result of Mayfield’s return.
“It’s on record that I’ve played with many quarterbacks throughout my career, so that doesn’t matter. Whoever the quarterback is, he’s an NFL quarterback,” Evans said. “But, yeah, me and Baker, we have a really good connection. I think he’s an elite quarterback.”
Regardless of who plays quarterback, Evans want to be a Buc for life, and he intends to continue for years to come.

“Obviously, it’s been well known that I wanted to be a Buc for my whole career,” he said. “It’s very rare to stay with one team the entirety of your career and that’s something that was a goal of mine. This is one step closer to one of my biggest goals.
“I’ve told you all throughout the years that I train more and I train harder in the offseason, eat better and things like that — stretching, chiropractor, the whole nine,” he said. “I have it all. That’s definitely helped me prolong my career and made me feel better. Hopefully I can play five-to-six more years at a high level.”
