Browns coach tells Greedy Williams to chill with Super Bowl guarantees

“I know one thing – that the Browns are going to the Super Bowl this year – that’s a fact.”

That’s what standout LSU cornerback Greedy Williams had to say about after being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Browns haven’t made the playoffs since 2002 and Westgate Las Vegas Sports Book declared they would miss the playoffs this year.

One person who seems keenly aware of the team’s well-earned lack of bragging rights since returning to Cleveland via expansion in 1999 is Browns coach Freddie Kitchens.

Kitchens reportedly had a talk with Williams when he arrived at the team training facility to remind him the Browns are not in the prediction business.

“I like the confidence, I like the excitement and the passion that he has,” Kitchens said.

While Williams said he isn’t backtracking on his Super Bowl prediction, the rookie said he is focused on gaining the trust and respect of his teammates.

“That was just excitement that day,” Williams said at the team’s Rookie Mini-Camp on Friday.

“I was excited to know what we had, so you know right now I’m at work, so I’m definitely learning the playbook, coming in ready to work, and hopefully everyone works towards that goal.”

The Browns traded up from the 49th spot in Round 2 to the 46th spot to land Williams, a tall, quick cornerback who some considered the top cover corner in the draft.

The former LSU Tiger is joining some familiar faces, namely Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, two fellow LSU alums.
