Browns finally get No.1 overall pick Baker Mayfield signed

The Cleveland Browns will have rookie No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield on the field when they begin training camp practices on Thursday in Berea.

After being one of the last unsigned top picks, the Browns officially signed the reigning Heisman winner to his rookie contract on Tuesday.

It’s not yet known how much first-team run Baker Mayfield will get in camp. Veteran acquisition Tyrod Taylor is expected to be the Week 1 starter. He’s going to have to learn Todd Haley’s offensive scheme during the summer, so we expect the former Pro Bowler to see significant action.

Even then, it was important to get Mayfield signed before camp opened. The last thing this team needed coming off a winless season was to see its No. 1 pick holdout of the start of camp. That now won’t be an issue.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Mayfield received $32.68 million guaranteed over four seasons with a $21.85 million signing bonus.
