Cleveland Browns Sweating Covid Results Ahead Of Pivotal Finale

The Cleveland Browns hope a Covid-19 outbreak doesn’t disrupt what could be their most successful season in almost two decades.

The Cleveland Browns will make the playoffs for the first time in 17 years if they beat Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Dr. Allen Sills says the league is monitoring the Browns, but sees no signs of an outbreak yet.

The Cleveland Browns facility was closed temporarily on Wednesday after a coach and a practice squad player returned positive tests.

Cleveland has had 10 players on the reserve/Covid-19 list since Saturday. Their entire receiving corps missed the games against the Jets, as well as linebackers B.J. Goodson and Jacob Phillips.

The receiving corps were placed on the list because they were deemed close contacts. So, there is a good chance they’ll be available to face the Steelers.

With the pivotal Steelers matchup approaching, the Browns will hope Landry, Higgins, Peoples-Jones and Hodge all return negative tests. If they do, they will be allowed to rejoin the team on Thursday.

Safety Andrew Sendejo and B.J Goodson are expected to be unavailable on Sunday.

“To date, we don’t see any connection among the recent positive cases with the Browns, so there’s no evidence of transmission within the facility,” Dr. Sills said.

“But obviously we’re going to continue to work through that and continue to monitor the test results on a day to day basis.”

The Browns did get a boost with the return to fitness of starting safety Ronnie Harrison Jr. Harrison has missed the past four games with a shoulder injury.

Harrison had 32 tackles against the Indianapolis Colts earlier this season as well as a pick-six. The Browns will need a big performance from him on Sunday’s regular season finale.
