Colin Kaepernick Being Investigated for Sexual Assault
TMZ is reporting that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated for sexual assault. According to police reports obtained by the gossip website, the alleged incident took place in Miami on April 1st.
The investigation is said to be in the “beginning stages†and no charges have been filed against anyone at this point.
Though, as TMZ notes, Kaepernick isn’t letting a little thing like being accused of sexual assault get him down. He’s been a regular on the Miami club scene since early this month, last photographed hanging out with a wedding party at the Viceroy hotel on the 5th.
Two other people are also being questioned in the matter. Police have been in contact with Kaepernick’s teammate, wide receiver Quinton Patton, and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette.
Initial reports suggested the alleged incident took place at the Vicery Hotel, but those have since been amended. Apparently Kaepernick and his accuser were at Lockette’s apartment in Miami, after which she returned to the hotel.
The Niners general manager Trent Baalke responded to TMZ’s request for comment, stating, “The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.â€
With the investigation only now gathering steam, no additional information is available at this time. Of course, if it turns out there is merit to these accusations, expect this story to explode, as such cases involving high profile personalities tend to do.
