Dennis Shcroder Done With Bench Role Upon Joining Lakers

New Lakers point guard Dennis Schroder has made a bold claim upon joining the team from the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s going to usurp LeBron James.

Last season, LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA Title starting at point guard. Although it was more of a ‘point forward’ position, with him playing with the ball in his hands.

As a result the 35 year old led the league in assists for the first time in his career. Meanwhile, his points per game and attempts per game dropped slightly from his first Lakers season.

That didn’t matter, because in Anthony Davis Los Angeles brought in the perfect foil for LeBron. Together, they combined to return the Lakers to their perch at the top of the NBA.

Dennis Schroder backs himself to augment the deadly combination of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The 6th Man of the Year Runner Up for last year wants to ‘move forward’ and establish himself as a starter. For the defending champions no less.

“I did this off-the-bench stuff already in two years with OKC,” said Dennis Schroder.

“I think I try to move forward, and I think with Anthony Davis and LeBron, I can be helpful as a starter in the PG position.”

“LeBron don’t have [to have] so much stuff in his mind,” Schroder said.

“I can bring it up, call a set play or whatever and put him in a position to score. I think him to play off-the-ball, I mean, is I think great. I think that’s the reason why they brought me in.”

It might not be such a bold claim, at least at the start of the season. LeBron has already expressed his displeasure over the shortest offseason in NBA history. It’s likely James will sit out the first month of the season in order to get properly fit. If he does, Schroder will have the chance to prove himself.
