Draymond Green Dismisses ‘Crazy’ Doubts About the Warriors

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is optimistic about the season ahead despite the opinions of the media and oddsmakers.

Golden State is more vulnerable now than they have been in years, and the NBA knows it. Over the summer, they’ve lost a number of key players.

Kevin Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets, while DeMarcus Cousins joined the Los Angeles Lakers. Andre Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, and Shaun Livingstone was waived.

Not only is the title favorites tag gone, but they are no longer considered the favorites to make the playoffs.

Draymond Green thinks that such talk is ‘crazy’.

“I’ve heard people say we’re not gonna make the playoffs. That’s crazy to me,” Green said.

“I mean, that’s just, like, that’s total disrespect, but no different than the disrespect we’ve all been getting for years.”

Rather than being discouraged by the doubters, there is a defiant attitude brewing in the Warriors camp. Despite what they’ve lost, Golden State is a team full of winners who will want to prove themselves again.

“I like it,” he said. “You know, being the underdog. It’s been a while since we been the underdog. But it brings that underdog chip back, and I miss that chip. I’m pretty sure Steph [Curry] missed that chip, and some of the stuff Klay [Thompson] been texting me this summer, I’m positive he misses the chip.

“… So to the oddsmakers, thanks. You got me where I am today. I look forward to where they take me again.”

“I think everybody thinks it’s kind of the end of us,” Green said in June, after the Warriors lost a six-game series to Toronto in the NBA Finals.

“But that’s just not smart. We’re not done yet. … But, yeah, I hear a lot of that noise, `It’s the end of a run’ and all that jazz. I don’t see it happening though. We’ll be back.”
