Earl Thomas Could be on the Way out of Seattle

All-Pro safety Earl Thomas appears to be trying to engineer a conclusion to his standoff with the Seattle Seahawks.

It’s more bad press for Seattle, after Richard Sherman spoke out against the franchise this week. Sherman accused the Seahawks of ‘losing their way’.

“Always been the underdog ain’t nothing new,” Earl Thomas wrote on Instagram. “Extend …..if you don’t want me let’s make a trade happen I understand it’s a bizz.”

It appear to be a negotiation tactic on the part of Earl Thomas. He is currently involved in a contract standoff with the Seahawks. However, rumors suggest that he could be looking to move to the Dallas Cowboys.

Thomas has one year and $8.5 million remaining on his current Seattle Seahawks contract. The player skipped last month’s mandatory minicamp as a form of protest. Thomas insists that he won’t take part in any team activities until Seattle extends his contract.

Coach Pete Carroll has assured Thomas that he remains a part of the team’s core. However, the six-time Pro Bowler may seek a move elsewhere if his contract isn’t resolved.

Rumors of a move to the Dallas Cowboys began in December of last year. Thomas issued a ‘come and get me’ plea to Dallas after the Seahawks played them towards the end of that month.

Former teammate Cliff Avril recently confirmed that the Seattle locker room knew that Thomas had always harbored a “love” for his hometown Cowboys.

In fact, he may have joined them after the 2018 NFL Draft. However, Dallas was unwilling to part with their No. 50 overall pick.

The Seahawks are currently rebuilding, and need to resolve the future of the 29 year old Thomas. The team may be wiser to reinvest in the roster if it is not going to pay him what he wants.
