Falcons’ Julio Jones suffers hip injury in loss to the Bills
The Atlanta Falcons will be without their best offensive weapon for the rest Sunday’s matchup with against the Buffalo Bills. Star wideout Julio Jones suffered an apparent hip injury and won’t return, according to Conor Orr of NFL.com.
Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones hobbled off the field just before halftime Sunday with what looked to be a minor hip issue.
When Atlanta emerged after the break, the star receiver was still in the locker room and will not return to Sunday’s game against the Bills due to a hip flexor injury.
As if Jones going down wasn’t bad enough for the Falcons, Atlanta also lost arguably their second-best receiver, Mohammad Sanu to injury in Week 4. Sanu suffered a hamstring injury which kept him out the rest of the game.
The Falcons ultimately fell to the Bills on Sunday with Buffalo’s defense causing havoc for quarterback Matt Ryan. The veteran quarterback threw two interceptions, fumbled twice, and was sacked once as the Bills went on to win, 23-17.
It was the first loss of the season for the Falcons and their first loss at home. The severity of Jones and Sanu’s injury has yet to be determined, but the team will hope to bounce back in Week 5 when they host the Miami Dolphins.
Ryan and company will hope to get back on track before they face the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch in Week 6 at Foxborough. New England, however, has had struggles of their own with the defending champions already having two losses on the season to the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers.
