Germaine Pratt Hoping To Go One Play Further Next Year

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt is returning for another shot at the Super Bowl after coming close this year.

The Bengals lost out to the Chiefs in the 2023 AFC Championship game. Far from growing disillusioned with the Bengals, players now feel they have a good shot at success in Cincy.

Germaine Pratt, who is reportedly signing a three-year, $21 million deal’ is one such player who doesn’t see greener grass elsewhere.

“We’re one play away, so why wouldn’t you want to stay? We’re close. It was a fact. I want to win,” Germaine Pratt said.

“I’m big on loyalty. They gave me an opportunity when I got in the league, so why would I try to leave for a team that wasn’t as successful for more money? I didn’t feel right about that.”

With the loss of safeties Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell, the return of Pratt provides some defensive stability for Cincinnati. His new deal has $10.35 million guaranteed in Year 1 and $15.15 million over the next two years.

The progress he’s made under DC Lou Anarumo is another key factor in Pratt’s decision to remain with the Bengals.

“Absolutely,” Pratt said. “I want to win, and Lou staying, that helps a lot. Each and every year, it seems like I improve and he lets me go out there and play and it’s always beneficial knowing the scheme because it makes you play faster.”
