New York Giants receiver Golden Tate lost his appeal over a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL’s Performance Enhancing Drug policy.

The Giants announced the suspension officially on Tuesday afternoon.
Tate had taken a fertility drug earlier this year and was unaware it was on the list of banned substances, as he shared on Twitter in late July.

There has been plenty of debate about whether this suspension was truly warranted. Yet the NFL has a distinct lack of empathy or tolerance when it comes to substances that are on the banned list. Performance enhancing drugs are condemned regardless of intent.
Now the Giants will be without Golden Tate for the first four games of the season. As well as that, the veteran will not be paid for those games.
