Golden State Warriors Have One Last Shot At The Playoffs

The Golden State Warriors have one last chance to make the playoffs after narrowly losing to the Los Angeles Lakers.

A LeBron James 34 foot three pointer was enough to win the game 103 – 100 for the Lakers Wednesday night.

The Golden State Warriors now face the Memphis Grizzlies in an elimination match up on Friday night in San Francisco.

Despite being blitzed by the Lakers on Wednesday, Steph Curry finished the match with a game high 37 points.

“Walked in the locker room and guys were upset, frustrated, angry we didn’t get the job done,” Curry said. “But we’ll be ready on Friday … biggest game of the year.”

The Golden State Warriors this season have redefined themselves as a plucky underdog team after years of dominance. Nonetheless, coming so close to beating the Lakers and ultimately losing will still sting.

“This is a bitter pill to swallow,” Warrior coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “This was our game, and we couldn’t get it done.”

Meanwhile, the win gives the Lakers the No.7 seed, setting up a Round 1 clash with the No.2 seeded Phoenix Suns in the playoffs. After a season ravaged by injuries and inconsistency, the Lakers can finally plan for their title defense.

“It was good to get that first punch,” James said. “Mike Tyson always said, ‘Everybody got a plan until you get in the ring and you get punched.’

“We did that, and it felt good. It felt great, It settled us. It wasn’t comfortable, but it settled us, and we were able to bring the fight to them. We are looking forward to what is going to be in store for the postseason.”
