Calgary Flames’ young superstar Johnny Gaudreau continued his fine form on Monday night. He scored a goal and made an assist in Calgary’s 4 – 1 victory over the Washington Capitals. Gaudreau, known as ‘Johnny Hockey’, is in the middle of a career-high 10-game point streak.

Gaudreau’s assist was for Sean Monahan’s goal, while captain Mark Giordano and Mikael Backlund added goals for the Flames. Goaltender Mike Smith made 29 saves. Calgary has now won four of its last five games.

Lars Eller scored the only goal for the Capitals, who took five minor penalties and lost for the third time in four games. Braden Holtby allowed four goals on 39 shots.

Johnny Gaudreau is the man behind Calgary’s good form. With eight goals and eleven assists during his current 10-game streak, he’s spurred them to a 7 – 3 – 0 record. His record is also the longest active streak in the league.

Making History

The 24 year old left wing is third in the NHL scoring charts, with 31 points in 20 games. In pure goal terms, he’s second in the NHL with 21. Gaudreau also made a little bit of Calgary Flames history, playing five consecutive multi-point games (6 – 6 – 12). He is the first Calgary player to do so since Jarome Iginla in 2002.

With Monday’s win, the Flames have jumped into the top ten. It’s an opportunity for them to put some pressure on the Vegas Golden Knights and the L.A Kings in the Pacific Division.

Coming up, Calgary faces away games against the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Dallas Stars to conclude the week.

The Flames are + 2800 to win the 2018 Stanley Cup. The comfortable favorites are Tampa Bay Lightning at + 600 and the Toronto Maple Leafs at + 700. Calgary has a better chance at the 2018 Western Conference, where they are + 1400 to win the championship.
