Kyle Lowry Dismisses Ben Simmons Feud Talk

Kyle Lowry played down talk of his rivalry with Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons following Thursday night’s game.

Kyle Lowry appeared to get elbowed in the groin by Simmons in the first half of their 116 – 95 defeat. Lowry was on the ground for a few seconds before rising again, and the officials didn’t stop play.

The pair have a history of spats on the court. Both Kyle Lowry and Ben Simmons were ejected from a regular season game in January. As well as that, they had an altercation during a game in Philadelphia last season.

Ben Simmons did at least apologize to Lowry at half time.

“Yeah, he said it at halftime,” Lowry told ESPN.

“Said he didn’t mean to. Scott [Foster] didn’t call it on the floor. It’s not like I’m going to dwell on it or bitch about it. It happened. It’s over now.

“We got our ass kicked after. It didn’t matter.”

Lowry wasn’t drawn on whether the league should review the play and apply retroactive punishment.

“I’m personally not going to dwell on it. We have bigger things to fry than something that happened in the first [half] or whatever.”

One positive on the night for the Toronto Raptors was the performance of Kawhi Leonard. Leonard’s play prompted Lowry to say that the team needs to help him more.

“We’ve got to help him,” Lowry said.

“I was literally saying it during the game. We have to help him. He’s doing everything he can possibly do offensively and defensively to f—ing win games, and myself, I’m not helping him enough.

“I’m not putting it on nobody else but me.”
