Liverpool Favored to Win Champions League Title Over Tottenham

Following what most football pundits called the greatest semifinals round in the history of the Champions League, the final between two clubs from England will be played in Madrid between Liverpool and Tottenham.

To no one’s surprise Liverpool has been named the favorite to lift the top European silverware in Madrid on Saturday and win its first Champions League title since 2005 in Istanbul.

Liverpool is currently a -200 favorite to win while Tottenham is listed at +165. For those betting on just the 90 minutes of regulation play, Liverpool can be found at -115. Meanwhile,  Tottenham is at +340. The odds on a draw is +260.

In August, when the group stage draw took place, Liverpool was given odds of +1200 to win the title, while Tottenham was tagged with odds of +2000. The two clubs survived difficult group draws with Liverpool facing Red Star, Napoli and PSG and Tottenham moving on from its group of PSV, Inter and Barcelona.

Tottenham then defeated Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax in the knockout stages. Ajax eliminated Real Madrid and Juventus before Tottenham won its thrilling semifinals against the side from Amsterdam.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham faced uphill battles in the semifinals with Tottenham down 3-0 aggregate in the second half of the second leg before battling back to win with a goal in the fifth and final minute of injury time.

Liverpool was down 3-0 aggregate as well against Barcelona before winning at Anfield 4-0 in the second leg. All the more impressive when you consider they did it without their two top attackers Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

During the English Premier League, Liverpool defeated Tottenham in both meetings by 2-1 scores. The last time they met was March 31.

Expect an exciting end to end match with both clubs having several opportunities to score. Liverpool could well come out and blitz Spurs tonight. Funnily enough, Spurs may be the one team who could recover from a Klopp overload. Say Liverpool go two or three goals up – the comeback will be on again for Spurs.
