Mets Climbing Future Odds, Prepare For Series With Yankees

The New York Mets have won 11 straight games, are 10-0 at home and 13-3 overall and are now preparing to take on the New York Yankees in a series where they will try to establish themselves as the new kings of baseball in New York.

The Mets’ hot start has propelled them to near the top of the future odds. They are 14/1 to win the World Series, No.8 in among the teams with the 10 best odds of winning it all this year.

For the Yankees, there is not a lot of enthusiasm from bettors. They may be in a three-way tie for the top spot in the AL Central, but they sit at 33/1 to win the World Series, well outside the top ten.

Despite the Mets’ hot start and the Yankees’ early-season struggles, the recently re-surging Yankees are the favorites with a –125 moneyline in the first game of this four-game series.

Starting for the Yankees will be Michael Pineda. This year he has a 5.00 ERA with a 2-0 record. This will be Pineda’s first career start against the Mets. In addition, he will be unfamiliar with a large portion of the batting lineup, as he has only pitched against two of the Mets’ players before.

Jacob deGrom will counter Pineda. He is 2-1 this season with a .93 ERA. Last season’s Rookie of the Year has been having a great season and has gotten over his allowing a first-inning homerun in his season debut. Since allowing that homer, he has gone 18 1/3 innings without allowing a score.

The Yankees had an impressive 2-1 victory over the talented Detroit Tigers on the road in their last outing. New York were the slight favorites with a –105 moneyline in that game.

The Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves, 6-3, in their last outing. They were –127 moneyline favorites.

The game’s total is currently sitting at 7 runs. The Yankees hit the UNDER in their last game, but have hit the OVER in 11 of their last 15 games overall and their last five games at home. The Mets also trend toward the OVER. Four of their last five games overall and on the road have made OVER bettors money.

These two hot teams from the Big Apple will face off at 7:05 p.m. ET.
