MLB Future Odds Update: Cubs Making The Climb As The Top Of The Odds Get Shaken Up
The Odds have been shifting quite a bit since the last time we checked into the future odds.
The Kansas City Royals briefly rose to the top of the odds before settling in at third place with 8/1 odds. The Royals rise through the odds is based more on popularity than actual results on the field. The Royals have seven players leading their respective positions in American League All-Star voting, that popularity has led to an increase in money being laid down on the Royals, a team who have not won a World Series since 1985.
The same could be argued about the Chicago Cubs, who despite dropping a series against the 15/2 Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-1, still managed to crack the top five in the MLB World Series futures. Despite much of the betting action on the Cubs being driven by optimism, it is hard not to get behind Chicago.
The Washington Nationals top the odds. The Nationals are the hottest team in baseball right now, having won six games in a row. They sits atop their division with a 3.5-game cushion.
