76ers’ Joel Embiid says situation with Ben Simmons is ‘disappointing’
As the Philadelphia 76ers go through training camp, star point guard Ben Simmons remains away from the team.
The uncertain situation has placed star center Joel Embiid further in the spot due to his relationship with Simmons and importance to the franchise’s success.
Embiid has remained quite open about his feelings toward the matter. Although he aired his disappointment in a recent Athletic report, saying his time with Simmons has “run its course.”

“The situation is disappointing, borderline kind of disrespectful to all the guys that are out here fighting for their lives,” Embiid said via ESPN.
The All-Star big man pushed back at the report stating that he feels that the playing style between him and Simmons can work together.
“I feel like our teams have been built, whether it’s the shooting need or stretch-5 and all that stuff, I feel like [Simmons] always had it here. And we still have it,” Embiid said, before listing all the 3-point shooters on the roster. “… Our teams have always been built around his needs.”
Although Embiid feels that way, Simmons’ actions this offseason into training camp say otherwise. He met with the organization last month to air his frustration, leading him to voice he wants out of Philadelphia.

The 76ers haven’t obliged his request, resulting in him staying away from the team. The franchise continues to hope that things can be mended to see the star point guard back in the mix. Ultimately, time will tell what unfolds ahead.
