Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union Finally Engaged

D-Wade finally put a ring on it. It’s about damn time.

On Saturday evening Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade announced his long overdue engagement to stunning actress Gabrielle Union. The pair have been together since shortly after Wade split from his first wife, Siohvaugn Funches, in 2007.

Or short before he split from his first wife, depending on which version of that story you prefer to believe. Since it’s nearly Christmas and this is such a happy occasion for the two lovebirds, let’s just go with the first version.

D-Wade shared the happy news via Twitter and Union made her own announcement shortly thereafter. Linked to their respective tweets was an Instagram photo of the very impressive bauble he used to seal the deal with his longtime love.

Given the size of that diamond, it certainly isn’t any wonder she said yes! That thing could single-handedly light the night sky over Miami during a new moon phase.

Wade’s engagement comes nearly two years after teammate LeBron James’ proposed to his high school sweetheart Savannah Brinson. James and Brinson were engaged on New Years 2012 and the couple finally married this past September.

Obviously there’s no word yet on when D-Wade and Union plan to tie the knot, but it will most likely have to wait until the NBA offseason. And if the Heat can manage to three-peat as champions, that won’t come until mid-June.

In the mean time, it looks like it’s going to be a very Merry Christmas in the Wade-Union household. Congratulations to the happy couple!
