Future Hall of Famer Chris Paul will wear No. 3 with Spurs
Before Chris Paul embarks on his first season with the San Antonio Spurs, he will be donning No. 3.
His new teammate Keldon Johnson announced on Instagram that he will give up the number to the future Hall of Fame point guard and change it to No. 0, which he wore during his time with the G League’s Austin Spurs.

Paul has worn No. 3 throughout his career and that will continue in his new journey with the Spurs in his 20th NBA season. He inked a one-year, $11 million deal to join San Antonio to play alongside rising star big man Victor Wembanyama.
The Spurs are hoping Paul brings a steady hand in the backcourt that helps the franchise take a significant step forward this upcoming season. The 39-year-old is coming off his lone campaign with the Golden State Warriors. He averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 44.1 percent from the floor. Aa well as that, he shot 37.1 percent from beyond the arc in 58 games played with 18 starts.

After coming off the bench for the first time in his career with the Warriors, Paul is likely to step into a starting role as a key piece to the Spurs’ offensive identity. Throughout much of his career, he has had a tremendous impact in helping turn teams into highly competitive playoff contenders.
Wembanyama has already cemented himself as the team’s primary piece for their future. He could quickly become an MVP candidate in his second campaign if San Antonio experiences drastic improvement.
