Giannis Antetokounmpo says Bucks playoffs results will ‘talk for themselves’

The Milwaukee Bucks enter this year’s playoffs as the third overall seed but hold championship expectations.

The Bucks have fallen disappointingly short the last couple of years, which has sparked much interest in their postseason push this time around. Before the playoffs begin, reigning back-to-back MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo tempered the expectations around the team.

“I don’t know if this year is gonna be different, I’m not gonna lie to you,” Antetokounmpo said via Pro Basketball Talk. “I didn’t say that. It might be the same, who knows? We’ll see. The results are gonna talk for themselves at the end, but at the end of the day, I don’t get too high, don’t get too low.”

Antetokounmpo added that the Orlando Bubble situation last year made it difficult to get away from basketball. The requirement to head back to the hotel after games made the losses sting and sit with the Bucks players longer than usual.

This year, the setting is much different, with the players holding the freedom to spend time with their family and get away mentally in between games. The internal championship expectations remain the same from Antetokounmpo, but there is an even keel approach to it all.

The Bucks are also fielding a revamped roster, with Jrue Holiday and PJ Tucker as key contributors. Meanwhile, Milwaukee holds the difficult challenge ahead against the Miami Heat.

The Heat knocked out the Bucks in five games last year in convincing fashion. As Antetokounmpo stated, their fate lies directly on the court.
