Ja Morant makes a major life decision ahead of the NBA Draft

Ahead of the 2019 NBA Draft, former Murray State point guard Ja Morant is regarded as one of the best talents in his class.

This has helped him earn his first endorsement deal as he inked a multi-year contract with Nike. He took to Instagram to announce the major off-the-court move on Monday.

Over the last several months, Morant has worked his way into the position of being one of the most tantalizing players in the country. His reputation has grown behind his explosive play as both a play and distributor. He put together a breakout 2018-19 campaign. For Murray State, he averaged a double-double with 24.5 points and 10.0 assists, along with 5.7 rebounds per contest.

The expectation is that Morant will go second overall to the Memphis Grizzlies in this year’s draft. He will likely be picked behind Duke standout Zion Williamson. If he does go second, his rookie contract will be a four-year deal that is worth approximately $39.56 million.

Ja Morant is viewed as a potential franchise cornerstone player at his position with his ability to highly impact the game as both a scorer and passer. This is something that will quickly be put to the test with whatever team that decides to draft him.

The Grizzlies have been heavily rumored to have interest in taking Morant. In Memphis, he would be the heir apparent to veteran point guard Mike Conley. Keep in mind, Memphis had attempted to move on from Conley prior to the trade deadline this past season but were unable to work out a deal.
