Kyrie Irving drops major hint that he may be signing with NetsBy Ryan Ward
The start of NBA free agency is less than a month away. This year sees quite a few big-name players around the league potentially changing teams. One of those big names is superstar point guard Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics. If reports are to be believed, he may be taking his talents to the Brooklyn Nets this summer.
Irving opted not to exercise his player option with the Celtics this week. As a result, the one-time NBA champion seems to be headed elsewhere. This has been something speculated on for quite some time. That team seemed to be the New York Knicks, or possibly rejoining forces with LeBron James on the Los Angeles Lakers. However, now he could be bound for the Nets after changing agencies, via ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Boston's Kyrie Irving is expected to partner with ROC Nation Sports for representation, league sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/2ZQnKvDaLV

ROC Nation is famously owned by former part-owner of the Nets and rap mogul, Jay-Z. This isn’t a guaranteed indication that Irving has made up his mind to sign with Brooklyn. Although it definitely seems to have tilted the scales in that direction moving forward.
The speculation will continue surrounding Irving’s immediate future with Brooklyn potentially the favorite to land in him free agency. However, as it tends to do in the NBA on a daily basis, anything can change between now and the start of free agency at the end of the month.
As of right now, the Nets, Knicks, and Lakers appear to be the only teams in the running for Irving’s services. The Celtics could creep back into the picture if Boston can acquire Anthony Davis in a blockbuster trade, but at this point, Irving seems to be looking elsewhere.
