Suns superstar Kevin Durant cracks the top 10 on NBA’s all-time scoring list

Phoenix Suns star forward Kevin Durant added another impressive accolade to his illustrious career by moving into 10th on the all-time scoring list.

Durant needed 1,003 career regular-season games to surpass Hall of Famer Moses Malone during Friday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets.

“It’s a long journey to be up there, mentioned with the greats,” Durant said via ESPN. “It takes a lot of work, a lot of preparation, a lot of people helping me get to this point.”

Durant remains one of the league’s top players, averaging 31.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.7 assists on 52.1 percent shooting from the floor. He also averages 50.0 percent shooting from beyond the arc in 19 games played.

The 35-year-old has put together a first-ballot Hall of Fame and he has plenty left in the tank to add much more to his resume. Durant could potentially surpass Camelo Anthony (28,289) and Shaquille O’Neal (28,596) on the all-time scoring list.

If Durant continues to play at an elite level, he could move into the top five over the next couple of seasons. However, surpassing LeBron James may be too tall of a task as he’s moved to 39,155 career points and counting.

Durant is in his 17th season but hasn’t shown any slowing down despite tearing his Achilles a few years ago. Durant remains a lethal scorer for the Suns, who shoots at a highly efficient rate.

He holds career averages of 27.3 points on 49.9 percent shooting from the floor and 38.7 percent from 3-point range.
