This Week in Fail – March 9, 2013

A lot of big time stuff went down in the world of sports this week.  Like every week when we have big upsets wins and land mark games there is also a handful of failures to go along with it.

Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard cannot do much without coming off like a jerk.  Whether it is requesting being benched because of a sore shoulder only to turn around and play during All-Star Weekend or laughing and joking while the his team is one it way to having the worse season in years, Howard just seems like a guy who can never say or do the right thing.

This week Howard made some comments in the media that rightfully infuriated his old teammates on the Orlando Magic.  Howard said when he played for the Magic the team was full of players “nobody wanted.” teams were full of players “nobody wanted.”

Jameer Nelson, Magic guard, respectfully fired back at Howard’s insult in the Orlando Sentinel:

Jameer-NelsonAt some point, when are you gonna, as a man, when are you going to take ownership and stay out of the media in a professional manner?  I would be less of a man to comment on certain things that people comment on about me and my teammates. We had a great run as a group, as core guys, and he was a part of it and for him to say things about anybody in a negative manner, that’s up to him.

Nelson and Howard were both part of the Orlando Magic squad that went to the NBA Finals in 2009.

Florida Gators

Just when I though I was going to be writing about the Kentucky Wildcats and Coach John Calipari this week, the Wildcats go and upset the Gators.

You see earlier this week Calipari said that basically he was a failure.

I’m disgusted with myself more than them.  If we look like this at this point,  it means I’ve done a crap job with this team.

-Calipari

It was hard to disagree with them as the defending NCAA Champions are no where to be found in the top 25 and have little hope of even making into the tournament.

All that changed, though, when the Wildcats should that old Championship spark and upset the Florida Gators  61-57.  The Gators fail here as they are a number 11 ranked team that let the seemingly down and out Wildcats begin mounting a comeback.

Chicago Blackhawks

BlackhawksSome may say I am being to hard on the Blackhawks as they just finished up a historic win streak and scoring streak.  However, the team that broke this astonishing streak was the Colorado Avalanche.  A Team that is 9-10-4.  I know streaks end when you least expect them to, but of all the teams the Blackhawks didn’t get a point against, it is  the Avalanche!   Come on!
