Warriors’ Stephen Curry has classic response to Clippers PG Patrick Beverley’s barbs

Over the past five seasons, the Golden State Warriors have been the toast of the NBA. The team made five straight trips to the Finals with three championships during that span. However, there has been much turnover to their roster while the L.A. Clippers have pushed their way up to being regarded as the best team in the league. It didn’t take long for Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley to talk trash to Stephen Curry during the team’s matchup last week, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com.

“You had the last five years,” Beverley told Curry, according to a source. “The next five years are mine.”

To that, Curry laughed and replied, “Aren’t you 31?”

Beverley is no stranger to talking trash. Over his career, he has been an active component of that to get under his opponent’s skins. It’s clear that Curry isn’t bothered by this chatter by any means, given that he has three NBA titles to his name. Meanwhile, Beverley has yet to win one.

The Clippers have a bright future ahead of them with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George leading their deep roster. It has elevated them to being widely considered the best team in the NBA as the favorite to win the 2020 title.

There is certainly much that can unfold over the next few months, but L.A. is a promising spot this season and potentially well beyond that. Meanwhile, the Warriors could have a challenging road ahead of them in the 2019-20 campaign with contending in the stacked Western Conference.
