Badgers Drop Second Straight in Loss to Wolverines

michigan_165123423_620x350If you do not think the Big Ten is now the toughest conference in college basketball, then you are just not paying attention. In the last two weeks we have seen one of the few remaining unbeaten teams lose not only one game, but two in a row. This week that team is the Wisconsin Badgers who lost at the Indiana Hoosiers in mid week, then followed that one up with a home court loss to the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. There is not a thing to be embarrassed about with either loss, just like last week when the Ohio State Buckeyes went down to the Michigan State Spartans and then at home to the Iowa Hawkeyes. At NCAA Tournament time, we will likely see all of these teams appear on our brackets.

Along with those teams we also may get the Purdue Boilermakers, Illinois Illini and Minnesota Golden Gophers into the Big Dance as well. The Gophers took down the 11th ranked Buckeyes 63-53 on Thursday to run their record to 14-4. Today the Gophers will visit the Hawkeyes on a BTN nationally televised game at 1:00.

In the Big Ten we cannot even overlook the rest of the group as the Hoosiers found out on Saturday when they dropped a game to the Northwestern Wildcats 54-47. That’s not the way to follow a court-storming if you are a Hoosiers fan.

In other Big Ten action, the Spartans trounced the Illini 78-62 to run their conference record to 6-0. They lead the Wolverines by a half game as they improved to 5-0 with their win over Wisconsin. Those teams will met next Saturday, but not before the Hoosiers travel to East Lansing on Tuesday night and the Hawkeyes visit Ann Arbor on Wednesday.

The Buckeyes will try to snap their three game slide when they visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Monday night at 7:00 that game will be televised by the Big Ten Network. The Huskers are 8-8 and 0-4 in the Big Ten. So this will be one the Buckeyes can count on to put in the win column right? Let’s ask the unbeaten Wolverines who went to Nebraska on the 9th and escaped with a 71-70 win.

Bet DSI has the odds for the Gophers-Hawkeyes game

Minnesota at Iowa– The Gophers are +9.5 -110 and the Hawkeyes are -9,5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Gophers +390 and Hawkeyes -500. While we don’t feel like the Gophers will win the game, they seem to deserve a bit more respect than this. We’ll take the Gophers +9.5 -110 and the Hawkeyes -500. We would also not fault anyone for putting a small wager on the Gophers +390.

Other games of interest on Sunday include:

Virginia Tech at Notre Dame– You know you Big Ten fans have to take a peek at the Irish. The Hokies are +10.5 -110 and the Irish are -10.5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Va Tech +465 and Notre Dame -625. We think the Irish will cover this one at home. Take Notre Dame -10.5 -110.

Oregon at Oregon State– Big Ten fans always like to know what the PAC 12 is up to. The Ducks are -2.5 -110 and the Beavers are +2.5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Oregon -145 and Oregons State +125. Oregon, like the Buckeyes started off great but has now lost three straight. Look for them to take it out on the Beavers. We like Oregon -2.5 -110.

Rutgers at Houston– Rutgers is one of you now. The Scarlet Knights are +4.5 -110 and the Cougars are -4.5 -110 ATS. Moneyline is Rutgers +160 and Houston -190. We like the Cougars at home -4.5 -110.
