NFL odds: Week 6 picks and analysis
The sixth week of the NFL season starts on Thursday night at Bank of America Stadium, with the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles playing under the lights. It’s a good way to kick things off, with the league having some very lopsided games on Sunday.
So which way should you bet the contests? Let’s run them down. All lines are courtesy of Oddsshark.com.
Philadelphia Eagles at Carolina Panthers (-3)
This is a game between two good teams that are trying to make a push to win their respective divisions. Still, the Eagles are the more complete group with a quality offense and a terrorizing defense.
Chicago Bears at Baltimore Ravens (-6.5)
Baltimore should win this game every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Mitchell Trubisky will struggle in his first road start. Ravens win big here.
Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans (-10)
Houston is desperate to win after beginning the season 2-3, and then losing J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus. Look for the Texans to win and cover.
Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints (-4.5)
The Saints are favored by too many points here. Detroit is a good team, and while New Orleans is the pick in a. close game, expect the Lions to cover.
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (NO LINE)
This is off the board because Case Keenum may or may not be replacing Sam Bradford. Regardless, look for the Packers to win here.
Miami Dolphins at Atlanta Falcons (-11)
The Falcons are coming off a loss at home to the Bills, and had a bye last week. This is going to be the biggest blowout of the weekend.
New England Patriots (-9.5) at New York Jets
The jets have fought hard all yearend earned my respect, but they are woefully outmatched here. mother big number covered.
San Francisco 49ers at Washington Redskins (-10)
The 49ers are going to cover with a quietly-decent Brian Hoyer game, but the Redskins win by a touchdown or so.
Los Angeles Rams at Jacksonville Jaguars (-2.5)
This is a stay-away game. Who knows what either of these teams will do? The Jaguars are the pick if you must, but it’s tough to say.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2) at Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are a horrible football team, that has its only two wins over the 49ers and Colts in overtime. The Buccaneers bounce back and cover off a long week.
Los Angeles Chargers at Oakland Raiders (NO LINE)
No line because we are awaiting official word that Derek Carr starts. This is a game that the Chargers could win, but don’t expect it. Take them to cover, though.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs (-4.5)
The Chiefs are the best team in football, and the Steelers are a mess. Pittsburgh is ripe to be blown out here. Take Kansas City to cover, which it has in all five wins this year.
New York Giants at Denver Broncos (-11.5)
The Broncos win easily, but there is no chance they cover this. Denver has no offense.
Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans (NO LINE)
This is going to be an atrocity if Marcus Mariota doesn’t play. Bet the Titans to win and take the under.
