NFL Rumors: Richard Sherman May Have Been Behind Trade Rumors

The Seattle Seahawks have been in the news a lot of over the past few weeks for all the wrong reasons. It seems as though it will be only a matter of time before Marshawn Lynch un-retires and forces his way to the Oakland Raiders while Richard Sherman’s name has been mentioned regularly in trade rumors.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it may have been Sherman trying to force his way out of Seattle by letting it be known he wants to be traded, via ESPN’s Sheil Kapadia:

“It has been my understanding all along that Richard Sherman was the one who initiated this. He was the one that wanted to be traded initially. The Seahawks were obliging him and his request.”

Sherman, who is widely regarded to be one of the best players at his position in the NFL, may be on the verge of outstaying his welcome in Seattle. Although the trade rumor linking Sherman with a potential with the reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots has been since refuted, the four-time Pro Bowler may very well still be on the move before the start of the 2017 NFL season.

Another potential destination for Sherman is to the Raiders to possibly re-join forces with Lynch in Oakland. Sherman is a California native and played his college ball at Stanford making the Raiders, who need help on defense, a perfect fit.

With the Seahawks more than likely talking about a deal with the Raiders for Lynch, Sherman’s name could be brought up in talks between the teams. Oakland would be much improved on both sides of the football if deals for both players came to fruition depending on what would be given up by the Raiders.
