NFL Week 4: 5 best bets
Which five NFL teams have the best betting odds this weekend? We look at the Week 4 slate and run down the best plays for your wallet.
5. Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots (-9)
New England should win this game. It’s at home and Tom Brad playing against Cam Newton is undoubtedly a huge advantage for the home team. Still, nine points seems to be laying far too many points considering the Patriots are giving up more than 30 points per game, including 37.5 per game at Gillette Stadium.
4. Indianapolis Colts at Seattle Seahawks (-13)
This is a huge line, but I’m rolling with the favorite to cover the spread. Seattle has a terrific defense that will be hellbent on showing they are much better than allowed 33 points to the Tennessee Titans as they did last week. Look for the Seahawks, at home, to come roaring out of the gates on primetime against a Colts team that is one of the worst three in the league. This is the biggest mismatch of the week by a long shot.
3. Los Angeles Rams at Dallas Cowboys (-6)
The Cowboys are a good team, but the Rams might be a pretty dame good team in their own right. Statistically, Jared Goff is playing some of the best football going through three weeks, while Todd Gurley has found his rookie form.A dd in some real weapons on the outside, and Los Angeles has something brewing. With all that said, the Cowboys are at home, are the better team and should win. But can they do it by six or more points? Doubtful.
2. New Orleans Saints (-2.5) at Miami Dolphins
This game is in London, so in reality, Vegas is saying that the Saints are a better team than the Dolphins in this neutral-site scenario. New Orleans is 1-2 but is coming off an impressive win over Carolina, in which it won on the road, 34-13. More impressively, it intercepted Newton three times. Meanwhile, Jay Cutler was rancid against the New York Jets, throwing for 75 yards through three quarters in a miserable 20-6 defeat. The Saints are not a great team, but they are better than a Dolphins team that is a missed field goal from 0-2.
1. Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Chargers (-1)
This is the easiest money of the week. The Eagles are not only a better team than the Chargers, they are a MUCH BETTER team. Los Angeles is 0-3 and while there are claims it has simply been unlucky, a record of 9-26 in its last 35 games suggests otherwise. Look for the Eagles to go into the tiny StubHub Center and take care of business against an inferior opponent.
