Alvin Kamara’s Agent Reveals His Ultimate Goal With Saints
The New Orleans Saints and star running back Alvin Kamara have agreed to rework his contract for the 2026 season.
Kamara was previously set to earn up to $11.5 million in base salary this year, which the two sides restructured to $6 million, with an opportunity to earn up to $8.5 million in incentives.
“Alvin’s goal, and the team’s goal, was for him to remain with the Saints and retire a Saint,” agent Brad Cicala told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo via ESPN.
Kamara’s future with New Orleans had begun to be put in question after the team signed former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. to a four-year, $48 million deal. That alone pushed the Saints’ salary cap hit for the 2026 campaign to $21 million before Kamara’s contract restructure, which was the most in the league.
The new long-term commitment to Etienne, along with Kamara being in the final year of his contract, sparked discussions about whether the latter was nearing the end of his tenure with the Saints. Kamara reworking his deal at the very least does silence that chatter for the upcoming season, but the door remains open to his future beyond that.

He is set to enter free agency next offseason, but his agent’s remarks do show that he prefers to garner another deal with the franchise. Kamara has spent his first nine seasons with New Orleans, but he’s coming off his least productive season, in which he played in only 11 games, tallying 471 rushing yards and one touchdown and 33 receptions for 186 receiving yards.
