Baker Mayfield reacts to Browns fans booing him in Week 11

The Cleveland Browns grabbed a much-needed victory over the winless Detroit Lions in Week 11 action.

It wasn’t the most encouraging performance by any means from the Browns. However the team did just enough to squeeze out the win. Throughout the contest, it featured many fans booing the team’s lack of explosive plays offensively against a struggling Lions team.

Despite that, quarterback Baker Mayfield voiced after the game that he didn’t care about the fans that booed.

“Those are probably the same fans that won’t be quiet while we’re on offense and trying to operate,” the Cleveland quarterback said Monday via ESPN. “So, don’t really care.”

Mayfield’s reaction is fueled by the Browns grabbing the win, which is the most important outcome. If Cleveland fell short, then the boos would likely be more bothersome to him as it would pile on the team’s shortcomings.

The Browns are in a tough offensive bind, as they have struggled to play with any offensive fluidity. Mayfield has been at the center of those issues as he’s struggled to put up consistent production.

The 26-year-old is dealing with an assortment of injuries but has battled through it to stay on the field. Meanwhile, the Browns have benefitted from having Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb leading the offense. This season, he’s been one of the league’s most productive players.

He’s currently ranked third with 851 rushing yards and sixth along with being second with 6.0 yards per carry, and 10th with six rushing touchdowns. Chubb dominated the game against the Lions, posting 130 rushing yards, marking his fourth performance with at least 100 rushing yards this season.

As long as the Browns are racking up wins, Mayfield won’t care what the fans do.
