NFL News: Bears QB Jay Cutler Expected To Miss The Rest Of The Season
It has been another rough season for the Chicago Bears. Nothing has seemed to go right under head coach John Fox since he hit the Windy City and now things have seemingly gotten worse for the Bears.
According to NFL.com, Cutler is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury:
Jay Cutler is expected to miss the rest of the season.
The Bears quarterback is believed to have a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday. Cutler is undergoing a second opinion in hopes the results come out differently.
The Bears have won two games on the season up to this point and have shown no signs of turning things around outside of a surprising win over the division rival Minnesota Vikings a couple of weeks ago.
At 2-8, the Bears’ season is pretty much over. Chicago will likely need to regroup and consider their options with Cutler potentially not being in the long-term plans. Cutler’s future with the team has been something talked about a lot this season as it is becoming more and more clear he may no longer be a good fit in Chicago if he ever was for that matter.
Just as the team parted ways with Matt Forte after last season, the Bears may do the same with Cutler and free-agent-to-be Alshon Jeffery this time around while they start from scratch. Chicago could be one of the teams in the league preparing for drastic changes, and it may be the best time to do so with the majority of the teams in the NFC North struggling.
