Broncos newcomer Melvin Gordon takes a shot at Chargers offense

One of the more prominent names on the move this offseason saw former Pro Bowl running back Melvin Gordon sign with the Denver Broncos in free agency.

Since the move, Gordon has been entirely complementary of his new team while voicing plenty of optimism around the situation. During a recent interview with Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, he went as far as to say that Los Angeles Chargers didn’t utilize him correctly like he believes the Broncos will.

“It really didn’t play out to my strengths, especially the first couple years there,” Gordon said. “I kind of just had to adjust and make it work. It kind of wasn’t a system built for me. But I feel like Denver kinda runs my style of football, and I think it’s a great fit.”

Gordon is heading into an intriguing situation where he will likely split duties with Pro Bowler Phillip Lindsay, who has emerged as one of the more talented running backs in the league. The Broncos’ duo in the backfield will be a crucial part of their offensive game plan that should help them possess one of the NFL’s best running games.

Lindsay has had his struggles with durability in his first two seasons, while Gordon has an opportunity to prove that he’s still an elite running back in the league. It’s a fresh start where the 27-year-old can put himself back on the map while being a key piece in helping the Broncos get back into the playoff picture.
