Jadeveon Clowney Appears Out of Reach For Browns

It has been a tough offseason for Pro Bowl outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney. Amidst a global pandemic and political unrest, he looks to position himself for a lucrative deal.

Clowney has yet to hammer out a new contract with any team as he remains far from a contract. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, the Cleveland Browns are out of the hunt for his services.

It appears we can cross the Browns off the list of teams interested in free agent Jadeveon Clowney.

After the Browns agreed to a renegotiated contract with Olivier Vernon, a league source told PFT that Cleveland is unlikely to continue pursuing Clowney, whom they had previously shown interest in signing.

The Browns were hovering around as a potential landing spot for Clowney. However, nothing ever came to fruition between both sides. That has become quite clear after Vernon’s contract situation was resolved as the team could have cut him to sign the 27-year-old.

Instead, the team got an agreement at a reduced salary from the veteran defensive end at $10.75 from $15.25 million. That alone pushes things away from them feeling the need to explore adding Clowney. To complicate things, the linebacker is also looking to be among the highest-paid players at his position.

There hasn’t been a lack of a market for his services, but more so that he has kept his asking price high. The Seattle Seahawks have remained in the mix as a potential landing spot while the Las Vegas Raiders are rumored as another possibility. Only time will tell where Clowney will play next.
