“Our goal is to still have fans at Heinz Field this year with the understanding that social distancing, as well as all fans being required to wear masks, will play a role in the capacity to ensure a safe atmosphere,” Burt Lauten, the Steelers’ director of communications, said in a statement to Brooke Pryor of ESPN. “We will continue to work with the NFL and public health officials to finalize plans for fans to attend our home games.”

It’s still quite an optimistic viewpoint to envision fans being able to attend games. The NFL has already voiced that they will put a tarp over the first six to eight rows of seats in the stadiums. With the recent spike in positive cases in the United States should also draw more concern.

The NFL has also seen several prominent players, such as Ezekiel Elliott and Von Miller. That has raised concerns from the players about starting up the season. Stefon Diggs, and Malcolm Jenkins have voiced their doubts.

Through the entire process, the NFL has remained quite firm with abiding by the recommended health precautions. There should be more clarity in the coming weeks.
