Browns QB Baker Mayfield claims he knows how his team will react to Week 1 loss
Heading into the 2019 season, the Cleveland Browns had much hype around their future prospects. The media hype portrayed them as being a legitimate playoff threat in the AFC.
However, this got off to a rough start in the season opener against the Tennessee Titans. On the opening Sunday, they fell in convincing fashion at home 43-13. “Everyone is going to throw us in the trash,” Mayfield said after the game. “And I think that’s good…I know how we’re going to react.”
The Browns had gotten off to a strong start in the season opener, scoring in their first drive. However, things had stalled a bit from that point on. The Titans defense also created plenty of problems offensively the rest of the way. Mayfield had plenty of struggles getting anything going on the field as threw three interceptions, including a pick-six in the lopsided loss.

Meanwhile, Cleveland was flagged 18 times for 182 total yards while converting just one 1-of-10 third downs and failed to convert both fourth-down attempts. The Browns simply couldn’t find their footing in the contest that was seemingly one-sided with not much room for optimism.
However, it was only the first game of the season with still plenty of time for the Browns to get back on track towards proving that they can make those aspirations for aspirations for the playoffs realistic. This will have to begin in Week 2 action on the road against the New York Jets.
