Browns star Odell Beckham Jr. undergoes surgery

Throughout the entire 2019 season, Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. played with a core injury.

It’s something that impacted his play, which he underwent surgery to address on Tuesday and is expected to be ready in time for the 2020 campaign, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Beckham had that surgery on Tuesday. The Browns announced that he saw Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia for the operation and that it was deemed successful. Beckham is expected to fully recover in time for next season.

There was some inkling that Beckham Jr. had suffered it back in training camp after quarterback Baker Mayfield briefly discussed. Despite that, he played through the ailment, putting up another productive year. He had 74 catches for 1,035 receiving yards. As well as that, he had four touchdowns. It marked the fifth time in his career that he has reached at least 70 catches and 1,000 receiving yards.

Beckham Jr. had his ups and downs in his first year with the Browns. However, he proved to be a strong factor in the passing game. There are clearly kinks that need to be worked out to get things back on track in the first year under head coach Kevin Stefanski. Getting their Pro Bowl wide receiver more involved will likely be one of the driving points in training camp ahead of next season.

Beckham Jr. is set to enter the second year of his five-year, $90 million deal that he originally inked with the New York Giants.
