Bucs coach Bruce Arians raves about Patrick Mahomes’ ‘unbelievable ability’
Through his first few seasons in the league, Patrick Mahomes has become arguably the best quarterback.
Mahomes’ success has led to plenty of revisionist history around the 2017 NFL Draft that saw him slide down to the 10th overall pick to the Kansas City Chiefs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians put a little salt in the wound for the fan base after stating that the team was hoping to draft him. (H/T Adam Schefter of ESPN)

“He probably had the best workout of any kid I went and worked out personally — he and Andrew Luck were the two by far on the board,” Arians recalled this past week while preparing for Sunday’s game against Mahomes. “Unbelievable ability.”
The Buccaneers held the 19th overall pick in that draft, which they used on tight end OJ Howard. The franchise hasn’t had consistent success with Howard over his first few years as he struggled to find consistency as a pass catcher.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes has helped make the Chiefs into the top team in the league. In his first two years as a starter, he became the youngest to win the regular-season MVP award and Super Bowl MVP honors. The Chiefs have also reached the AFC Championship game in both campaigns and won their first Super Bowl in five decades.
The Buccaneers are moving forward with Tom Brady under center, hoping to secure a chance to compete for the Super Bowl. Tampa Bay is all in with Brady, which they are hoping to maximize his window.
