Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson says Tyrann Mathieu will have ‘a really big year’ with Texans

The Houston Texans are a team on the cusp of threatening to be an AFC Super Bowl title contender. Last season ended without a playoff berth and was the first losing season for Bill O’Brien in Houston. However, the team is on the uptick with the presence of Deshaun Watson and one of the best NFL defenses. During this offseason, the team made that defence even more dominant with the addition of All-Pro safety, Tyrann Mathieu. The former Arizona Cardinals star is a massive upgrade for the team as they look to get back on track next season and one of his former teammates sees a huge season ahead of the Honey Badger, via ESPN’s John Weinfuss.

“I know he’s going to make the best of this opportunity,” Peterson said. “I tell him all the time, I love to see him with his back against the wall because he always finds a way to prevail and he’s going to have a big year.

“He’s going to have a really big year.”

The Cardinals, however, seem to be going through a bit of a rebuilding phase. Carson Palmer and Bruce Arians have retired. Meanwhile the team will lean on an injury prone veteran quarterback in Sam Bradford. In addition, Larry Fitzgerald is potentially playing his last season in the league.

Peterson is still widely considered to be one of the best corners in the game today. He will remain the backbone of the defense. Although rebuilding may be their direction, the team may still be able to compete with running back David Johnson arguably being among the league’s elite and Arizona possibly being a force to be reckoned with for at least one more season.
