Cardinals will be ‘aggressive’ in their search for a quarterback
The Arizona Cardinals have gone through some drastic changes recently. After the 2017 NFL campaign, head coach Bruce Arians and veteran quarterback Carson Palmer decided to call it a career. This left Arizona’s immediate future up in the air.
Although the rebuilding process is around the corner, Arizona wants to secure a quarterback in free agency. Team president Michael Bidwell recently made it abundantly clear that they’ll pursue a quarterback, via AZCardinals.com.
“Today, we’ve got the GM in place (with Steve Keim), and I really like our head coach (Steve Wilks) and everything I’ve seen from him so far,†Bidwill said Tuesday morning during an appearance on 98.7, Arizona’s Sports Station. “The quarterback thing will come. I don’t want to sound like we’re being cavalier about it but we’ve got to wait for free agency to start to see who is out there.
“I know we’re going to be aggressive, we’re going to have a plan.â€
Kirk Cousins
Along with bringing in a quarterback, one of the team’s major concerns is Larry Fitzgerald’s plans. The future Hall of Famer has flirted with the idea of following Arians and Palmer into retirement. His decision depends on the moves the team makes during the offseason to address the vacant positions, namely at quarterback.
With Steve Wilks at the helm, quarterback is a position of need. Fortunately for Arizona, they’ll have their fair share of options starting with Kirk Cousins of the Washington Redskins. Cousins is the prized free agent teams will be going after during the offseason with the Cardinals having some stiff competition with the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, and many other teams in the league vying for his services.
At this point, the Cardinals odds to win the Super Bowl next season are among the worst in the league. That could greatly change if Cousins agrees to a deal with Arizona, but it remains to be seen where he might land.
