Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes talks contract motivationsBy Ryan Ward
Since the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl 54, there has been an expectation that Patrick Mahomes is in line for a record-breaking extension this offseason.
That came to fruition earlier this week, with him agreeing to a 10-year deal worth up to $503 million. In Tuesday’s press conference, Mahomes voiced that the new extension gives him the financial security that he had always wanted. (H/T Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk)

“Not only does it give me the security I’ve always wanted, but it allows the team to be great throughout my entire career,” Mahomes said, via Nate Taylor of TheAthletic.com.
Mahomes has had a quick ascension to stardom in the NFL after his first three years in the league. He has spent the last two years as the Chiefs’ full-time starter, which has seen him garner a regular-season MVP award and Super Bowl MVP honors. Mahomes has become the driving force to his team’s success while only being 24 years old.
He has an extremely bright future ahead to guide the franchise to even greater success throughout his extension. Mahomes has the opportunity to also elevate himself into the conversation as one of the greatest players in NFL history with the potential to be at the top of that list.
The Chiefs have tremendous confidence in his ability by committing to that massive contract, putting an extremely high expectation ahead. His play has earned a deal, and now it’s his chance to prove that he is worth every penny of that record-setting deal.
