CJ Stroud: Texans offense is a ‘five-headed monster’

After pushing the Houston Texans back into the playoffs, second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud has plenty of hype and high expectations around the franchise’s future ahead in 2024.

So much so that he has expressed plenty of excitement about the Texans’ revamped offensive skill set around him headlined by star wide receiver Stefon Diggs heading into his second campaign.

“Stefon is somebody that can open up the playbook, but we have all these guys around,” Stroud said after Day 1 via ESPN. “It’s a five-headed monster. It’s definitely super dope to have just a bunch of options.”

Houston possesses a plethora of talent, including former Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon and wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell.

Mixon is coming off his fourth 1,000-rushing yard campaign while he has 49 career rushing touchdowns through his first seven seasons.

Dell was putting together a highly impressive rookie year with 709 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, which had him on pace for 1,205 receiving yards before his season-ending injury in Week 13.

Collins picked up the slack in his absence, finishing eighth in the league with 1,297 receiving yards along with eight receiving touchdowns.

That is all not overlook another strong campaign from Diggs, who is coming off posting 107 receptions for 1,183 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, which marked his fourth straight year with at least 100 catches and more than 1,100 receiving yards.

All that talent around Stroud sets the table for what should be another season where the Texans take the next step toward Super Bowl contention.
