Cowboys exercise fifth-year option on star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb
Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has become one of the league’s top offensive talents.
All that has led the Cowboys to unsurprisingly pick up the fifth-year option in his rookie deal for the 2024 season worth $17.9 million.
Lamb is coming off a career-best campaign, where he set career highs with 107 catches, 1,359 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. His 260 receptions in his first three seasons are the most in franchise history.

Meanwhile, his 10 career 100-receiving yard performances over that span are second to Hall of Famer Bob Hayes. Lamb has proven that he can fill the void as the team’s No.1 receiving option after the Amari Cooper trade last offseason.
The Oklahoma product is reported to desire a long-term deal with Dallas, which will likely pick up next offseason. The Cowboys now possess a bit more time to work that out with Lamb under contract through 2024.
However, the organization could get ahead of the curve to offer him a new deal to avoid the asking price from going higher if he puts together another strong year.

What could also affect the situation is other wide receivers garnering lucrative deals. Star wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase are nearing massive paydays, which could significantly raise the price tag for Lamb’s next deal.
The clock is ticking on the Cowboys toward an inevitable lucrative deal for Lamb to keep him in tow for the foreseeable future. Time will tell what kind of contract he winds up getting from Dallas.
