Dennis Allen raves about Derek Carr’s impact on the Saints
The New Orleans Saints are moving in an entirely new direction under center with Derek Carr at the helm.
The former Pro Bowl quarterback has brought a different sense around the offense. Head coach Dennis Allen recently raved about Carr’s football IQ and ability.
“Quarterback is the most important position on the field, and when you have a highly skilled player, a highly-intelligent player, a guy that works the way Derek does, a guy that has the type of leadership qualities that Derek has, that’s going to filter throughout the whole football team, players and coaches,” Allen said, via Jeff Duncan of NoLa.com. “I think that gives you a lot of confidence going into the season.”
Carr holds a golden opportunity to reshape the next chapter of his career with New Orleans. His reputation has become marred by the utter lack of sustained success he experienced during his lengthy tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Carr’s performance at times was to blame for the Raiders’ failure, which eventually pushed him out of the picture last season. He now holds in front of him a chance to experience something he hasn’t yet in his NFL career.

The Saints hold complete trust in him to lead them toward the playoffs and potentially much further. Beyond that, Allen’s comments glean that Carr will have a significant influence and impact on the offensive game plan.
It’s now on Carr to make the most of the opportunity in New Orleans that could define his legacy moving forward.
