Diontae Johnson aims to change ‘the narrative’ with Browns

Talented wide receiver Diontae Johnson will be playing for his fourth team in four years during the 2025 NFL season, as he hopes to start fresh with the Cleveland Browns.

After failed stints with the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans, Johnson has been given another chance to shine with the Browns. It could be argued that this will be Johnson’s last chance on the NFL level, as his reputation is far from good around the league at this point in his career.

Johnson is fully aware of what is at stake while playing for Cleveland, which is a team going through a transition at the quarterback position, via ESPN.

“I don’t want to speak on a lot of stuff,” Johnson said. “Everybody’s going to have their opinions, you know what I’m saying? So at the end of the day, I’m the only one in that room that really know what’s going on. They’re entitled to their own opinion, so I can only go off of what I know and then try to go off what I put out there and my best effort. But like I said, last year is last year. I’m trying to change that narrative and move the right way and keep going.”

Browns head coach, Kevin Stefanski, talked about the veteran quarterback, claiming he’s doing a good job in Cleveland thus far.

“Diontae’s doing a nice job,” Stefanski said Tuesday. “Obviously getting up to speed with terminology and those types of things, and I think we’ll just continue to work. But it’s good to have him out here.”

Only time will tell whether Johnson can resurrect his playing career with the Browns and become a valuable weapon in the passing game for a team that desperately needs to get back on track during the 2025 campaign.
