Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has already become one of the NFL’s most popular players. Tagovailoa was the third-highest-selling player and the top-selling rookie of official NFL merchandise across the Fanatics network during the 2020 regular season.
Tagovailoa has quickly become a fan favorite in Miami while becoming possibly the long-term future under center for the franchise. The 22-year-old experienced his injury issues in his first campaign but played with much poise when given the opportunity.
In 10 games played, Tagovailoa recorded 1,814 passing yards with 11 touchdowns to five interceptions with an 87.1 passer rating. He had his moments throughout his rookie season but played with some notable restrictions within the playcalling.

Ryan Fitzpatrick’s presence also muddied the waters for Tagovailoa as he was benched in favor of the veteran quarterback. Head coach Brian Flores hasn’t exactly gone all on the fifth overall pick in last year’s draft, but the expectation is that he will be the clear-cut starter next season.
The Dolphins will likely open up the playbook and give him more free rein with the offense. The upcoming offseason will be quite telling of how much he’s progressed in his development and maturation.
