Eagles release veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson

The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t wasting any time making moves during this NFL offseason. First, the team parted ways with star quarterback Carson Wentz this week and now they’ve said goodbye to veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

Jackson took to social media to say goodbye to Philadelphia and say that he’s looking forward to his next challenge and next chapter in the NFL.

When healthy, Jackson can make a case for being one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. His speed puts him in the elite class in that category. Although he’s struggled with injuries so much over the years that he hasn’t been reliable in terms of being on the field consistently.

Jackson’s injury issues have been a big problem over the past few years. As a result it’ll be interesting to see what kind of market he’ll have for his services moving forward.

Jackson caught only 14 passes during the 2020 NFL season with the Eagles. He racked up 236 yards and one touchdown in the five games he played for Philadelphia in 2020.

Another aspect that won’t help Jackson as he looks for a new opportunity in the league is that fact the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft is stacked with talent at the wide receiver. The veteran pass-catcher might struggle to find a new team in the league with so many options.

In 160 games during his career so far, Jackson has hauled in 612 catches for 10,656 yards and 56 touchdowns.
